Who mentored you?
Imagine if you didn’t have that trusted adult as you grew up. 4 in 10 young people do not have that important relationship in their life. Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Join us as we do this together.
MENTOR Vermont, as the statewide expert on youth mentoring, is building Relationship Centered Communities.
We lead, expand, and strengthen the mentoring movement, building capacity to make high-quality relationships accessible to all young people.

Here you can learn, connect, and get involved, and together we can create a web of support for Vermont’s young people.

Mentor Vermont has partnered with DCF for years…and has a strong reputation with us for communication, accountability, and ensuring state dollars are stretched as far as possible. MENTOR Vermont works hard to ensure mentoring resources exist in all parts of the state, particularly in especially high-risk and also rural communities.

Initiatives of MENTOR Vermont’s Work

Centering Quality
This initiative supports training of program staff and mentors, and provides the technology and research that small programs do not have capacity for.
This strengthens the quality of local mentoring relationships through research-based effective practices and enables program staff to focus more time on supporting matches.
Enhancing Public Will
This initiative amplifies the impact of every youth mentoring agency in Vermont. This work strategically leverages social channels, earned media, marketing materials, storytelling, and public events to convey diverse and authentic representation of youth mentoring.
By creating thoughtfully planned awareness to destigmatize, inform, we will inspire more Vermonters to get involved in youth mentoring.

Advancing the Mentoring Mindset
This initiative will help meet the needs of Vermont youth by helping MENTOR Vermont to work with a range of community partners to broaden the scope of mentoring.
When we help more adults recognize that everyone has the ability and opportunity to offer mentor-like support to the young people in their lives, more young people feel supported.
Instilling a mentoring mindset helps inform and foster relationship-rich environments — helping teachers, coaches, crossing guards, neighbors, and others surround youth with a web of support.
Increasing Sustainable Investment
This initiative builds awareness and establishes meaningful partnerships with a variety of changemakers to share in the advancement of mentoring and secure the necessary funding to meet community needs.
MENTOR Vermont provides annual funding directly to youth mentoring agencies, investing in the creation and support of quality, long-term youth mentoring relationships. This grantmaking remains the only statewide mentoring-specific funding available in Vermont.
MENTOR Vermont continues to advocate for mentoring programs eligibility and accessibility to various funding sources in order for youth mentoring agencies to access sustainable local funding.
