National Mentoring Month
January is National Mentoring Month! Please join us in celebrating and helping us raise awareness of the need for more mentoring relationships in Vermont.
Ambassadors of Mentoring
The Ambassadors of Mentoring program provides a unique opportunity for mentoring pairs to help spread awareness on the impact of mentoring while spending more time together. In engaging with MENTOR Vermont and the mentoring field through a number of different leadership opportunities and promotion activities, mentoring pairs will experience what it is like to directly impact their communities through mission-driven work.
The Ambassadors of Mentoring program offers leadership opportunities for youth mentees and mentors to engage in advocacy and awareness campaigns. Activities mentoring pairs have engaged in include: legislative testimony, interviews, participating in Public Service Announcement videos, photo shoots, and awareness events.
During National Mentoring Month, MENTOR Vermont recognizes our Ambassadors of Mentoring at a recognition ceremony in Montpelier and faciliates youth advocacy efforts by engaging with local legislators at the State House, attending a House Resolution for mentoring, and witnessing the signing of the Proclamation.
Social Media Campaign
To celebrate all the amazing mentoring happening in Vermont, we’re hosting a Social Media Raffle. We have a ton of prizes for mentoring pairs to win and we want to highlight our Vermont Mentoring Pairs!
There are several ways to participate:
1 entry: go to www.mentorvt.org/share-your-story/ and fill out the form 2 entries: share a picture as a mentoring pair on Instagram or Facebook! Include your first names, program if affiliated, and what you love about your mentoring relationship 3 entries: create and post a video to Instagram or Facebook highlighting your mentoring relationship. Ask each other questions, do a slideshow, make a TikTok. Above all, have fun!Don’t forget to tag @mentorvermont so we can track your entries!
Mentoring Month Coffee Hours
January 12th at 10:00 am – Training and Learning Opportunities
Join us as we the 2024 training schedule, discuss different learning opportunities, and gather feedback from the Vermont Mentoring field on professional development growth and training series.
January 19th at 10:00 am – Resources Refresh
MENTOR Vermont continues to provide many systems and resources for mentoring professionals to take advantage of and support you in your work. Join us to refresh you knowledge on our existing resources, learn about new systems in place, and ask questions!
January 30th at 10:00 am – Virtual Summit Meet-up
For those unable to attend the National Mentoring Summit, join MENTOR Vermont for a virtual summit meet-up! Programs across the state have the opportunity to learn about national and statewide mentoring advocacy campaigns, and what mentoring looks like in Vermont for 2024, and to announce our Social Media Raffle winners!

Each January, we come together as a community to ignite those passions and help turn those wildest dreams into reality with National Mentoring Month. By harnessing our collective voice, MENTOR advocates for mentorship, legislative priorities, and raises awareness for how one conversation, one experience, and one mentor can change a young person’s life.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
A day to share in the inspirational words of Dr. MLK, Jr. and elevate the spirit of service through volunteerism. Mentoring Amplifies opportunities & we strive for equity in our pursuit to close the mentoring gap. Supporters were encouraged to share their own content on social media or share your story here.

A day of international conversation on social media where photos, videos, and messages of powerful mentoring stories were shared.

Thank Your Mentor Day
A day for everyone to reflect on the mentors they’ve had in their life, and thank them on social media for helping them become the person they are today. On this Thank Your Mentor Day, let’s celebrate mentors by expressing our heartfelt gratitude for the profound impact they’ve had on our lives. Supporters are encouraged to post their own content on social media or share your story here.
